Merging Daniel Lafferty into article
[edit]I wasn't the one who suggested the merger, but I want to make a note on the talk page. I fully support the idea of merging that stub into the main article. The main article isn't very long in its current form and I see no harm in merging the two articles together. PS2pcGAMER (talk) 05:51, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- That article should be nominated for deletion... it's totally non-notable. --Liface 06:28, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
Please remove the Daniel Lafferty link, as Ayr United have just signed a left back called Daniel Lafferty so he will be getting a page after our game against Ayr tomorrow.Salty1984 (talk) 23:36, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Goof or Not?
[edit]"When Shooter McGavin pays the jeering fan for taunting Happy Gilmore and suspending him from the PGA tour, the fan he states that he's going to spend it at Red Lobster. However, in Pitt Meadows and the entire province of British Columbia, Canada, there are no Red Lobsters."
Okay, but wasn't that scene supposed to take place in San Fransisco?
They clearly say the Pepsi Pro-Am was taking place in Frisco. Regardless of where filming is, the location in-film is the Bay. --The Saxon 03:37, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
"At the hockey try-outs, the coaches are shown standing behind the glass right after Happy shatters it with his slap shot." - should this be considered a goof? I've always felt that the coaches were standing behind the plate of glass that Happy had shattered as a point of comedy, basically, out of all of the plates of glass in the Hockey arena, Happy managed to hit the puck at the one in front of the coaches (unintentionally).—Preceding unsigned comment added by Applepwnz (talk • contribs)
- The goof is that they are shown behind the glass right after it is shattered. That is, the glass is intact even after Happy's puck shattered it. It is a continuity error. — Frecklefoot | Talk 17:31, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
I'm removing the goof about Bob Barker's pants. The Pro-Am was probably not only a one-day tournament and it's very possible he switched pants as a result of the fight taking place on a second or third day. Metsfanmax 17:47, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Deleting this point
[edit]"It is interesting to note that during the scene where Happy is yelling and screaming at the ball with Kevin Nealon in the background, the scene is live and tking place as the President of the Tour is watching him on TV. However, since the shot of Happy golfing is supposed to be live, one must wonder how they are editing all the words he is swearing."
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is an explanation for this...I'm pretty sure theres a 7 (or so) second delay on a live broadcast to edit language etc. So I will delete this point, feel free to revert it if you want. --Adam aka. Cho03 12:51, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Fish out of water?
[edit]Would this be considered a "Fish out of Water" film? In my opinion, it is. Totema1 23:34, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
I agree. Actually it is almost along the lines of Rocky. Somebody keeps taking it upon themselves to keep deleteing my entries in the trivia section about the comparisons to it.
Just curious as to why somebody keeps deleting the Rocky comparisons in the trivia section. If you really don't think Happy Gilmore is not like Rocky then you are very wrong.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.43.94.13 (talk • contribs)
- We don't do original reserch here on Wikipedia. Unless you can provide references, it's just your opinion and opinions aren't encyclopedic. — Frecklefoot | Talk 16:28, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
- Not an opinion. Go back and read some of the reviews from when the film came out.
- Then readd with a citationWangfoo 07:47, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
This film has nothing to do with Rocky, and your opinion,is just that, YOUR opinion. Opinions aren't encyclopedic,as stated above.--99.177.248.92 (talk) 19:26, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
Bob Barker Pic
[edit]Does it need to be deleted? I think it enhances the Wiki quite nicely. Why delete it??**Mr.Bombo** 10:55, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Happy Gilmore = Happy Madison
[edit]Was Happy Gilmore the inspiration for the name of Adam Sandler's film company, Happy Madison? Mollymoon 15:48, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- It was that in combination with Billy Madison. It's somewhere here on the 'pedia. — Frecklefσσt | Talk 18:15, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Rob Schneider in Cast section
[edit]The article lists Rob Schneider as having a small part as a heckler? To my knowledge, he is not in this movie. The heckler was played by Joe Flaherty. Biastad (talk) 08:33, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- There were multiple. It's possible they were simply discussing a different heckler, referencing Rob specifically due to the big ticket name. 69.50.40.89 (talk) 21:54, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
Guitar
[edit]Can't remember if Happy plays a guitar in film, and like to see Him play Great White Buffalo <|> Lunch Lady Land *)75.202.129.162 (talk) 20:31, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
No PGA Tour!
[edit]The film is not about the PGA Tour, it has nothing to do with the PGA Tour and they where not even allowed to use the name. In fact you can see a note in the end-credits: "The filmmakers acknowledge a total lack of cooperation from the PGA." So it´s wrong to mention the PGA Tour in the article! --93.135.110.38 (talk) 18:34, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
Bill Murray
[edit]I thought my eyes were kidding me the first time I saw this. Bill Murray made a breif apperance as the caddy. He appeared as Billy's caddy eating a sandwich.66.190.211.86 (talk) 00:52, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Abe Lincoln
[edit]The end of the plot for this wiki page says that along with Chubbs and the alligator they are accompanied by Abe Lincoln. Are we entirely sure? I always thought it was his uncle dressed as him. Don’t we see him in Happy’s Happy place as the Cowboy? So I gathered he liked to dress up. Does anyone know the answer to this?-RREDD13 (talk) 03:27, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Cult following
[edit]I am removing this-Despite mixed reviews, the film has garnered a large cult following. The movie continues to enjoy widespread appeal among young adult audiences and is considered to be one of Adam Sandler's funniest films. This is biased and has no sources. Where is the source that it has a cult following? And WHO considers this to be one of Adam Sandler's funniest films? --99.177.248.92 (talk) 19:19, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- It wasn't sourced so you were right to remove it.
- they couldn't have expected the kind of cult following it would have two decades later (golfchannel)
- Cult pisstake golf movie (HuffPost)
- Adam Sandler's cult golfing comedy Happy Gilmore (DigitalSpy)
- After the 20th anniversary and continued popularity of the film I think it is fair to say it has a cult following. -- 109.79.80.26 (talk) 23:44, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
Plot section
[edit]Does anyone think the plot section is too long? I may trim it up a bit.--99.177.248.92 (talk) 19:30, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
Sequel
[edit]Is there any credible source referring to an actual sequel. The Entertainment Weekly link does not link to any article relating to a sequel nor can I find a link to any page even mentioning the possibility of a sequel. (Triplez47888 (talk) 03:31, 31 August 2012 (UTC))
